Performance Lighting Sculpture
Panoptes is an inventive new stage design that premiered at Sonar Festival 2018 in Barcelona. Electronic musician Daedelus presented the opportunity to develop a new live show using volumetric displays as a platform for lighting and projection. We created a programmable mechanism that spins string at varied speeds and reflects the light projected onto it. The rig was designed to be lightweight for travel, but sturdy enough to withstand an entire show. It also allows any lighting designer to plug in and take control. The resulting effect is a blur of multi-colored waveforms, dancing lines and volumetric beauty.
